I love tire threads. And will rubi springs lift my 2 door.

Most people will ask what's the best tire all day long. But when it's time to break out the almost maxed credit card, price always wins.

Don't believe Mr. Lika. Big tires do not break axles. It is a complete myth and something I was hoping to avoid in this thread. People need a thread to turn to when they are searching for their tires and that type of false information is just plain irresponsible.

So I will repeat......big tires DO NOT break axles.

I recommend the loudest of the three tires you posted. They need to hear you coming. Performance is secondary to them hearing you screaming down the highway.

Thats the most important aspect of a tire. Who needs to hear a radio while driving anyways

Turn the radio up loud too - that helps the Jeep run better.

:yeahthat: Mickey Thompsons are a softer rubber and I tend to chunk 'em up on the rocks - just need to lay off the gas more. 1st set were used 33's and my 35's are about a year old now. Some places such as 4 wheel parts (can I say that here?) have 12 months - no interest financing which can come in pretty handy - just make sure you pay more than the minimum each month or at the end of the year you'll end up w/ one big payment to avoid interest on the entire purchase being tacked on if the balance isn't paid in the 12 months.

I was just talking to someone yesterday who was trying to get KM2's and said they were on back order as well. He said that what was out there at the retail level was it. They were being taking out of production for a couple months.

Don't know if this is accurate or not.

It's funny to hear about all the credit and stuff (one of the posts above talked about maxed out credit cards, etc....just sounded miserable.....I guess there's layaway, too). I guess that can be a deciding factor.....but for me, I'm looking for a good off road tire, but one that will last a decent time as my daily driver. I like to pay cash. If I can't pay cash, I just won't get it.

Plus.....I really wanted to just get the discussion out there so people can easily search when they come on and see all the different opinions on tires. I love all the different experiences people have when it comes to all our parts.

There's a local warehouse down here that has some good stuff in stock.....and there's also the character out of FL who claims he can get me tires. I tend not to believe him unless he is drunk dialing me at one in the morning.

What makes you think the Nitto Trail Grapplers are on the upper end of the price scale? Without installation, etc., I only paid around $350/tire for m 37x12.50-17's. And with right at 9k on them so far, including one wheeling trip, they're wearing perfectly. They start off pretty quiet, too, but once you hit about 5k on them, they'll get louder. Not terribly, but you'll definitley be able to hear them. Are they heavy? Hell yeah! But they also have a tad more tread than most every other tire out there. 20/32 vs. 18/32 & 19/32 with everything else, which probably doesn't make that much of a difference in tread life, but every little bit helps. Especially on a DD.

    Pitbull Rockers

My BFG KM2's have done great for me - and the 35x12.5x15's are relatively cheap.

For my next set, I'm considering going to Pitbull Rockers in 37x12.5x15. Everything I've heard about them indicates they are badass, however they aren't cheap. The 37x12.5.15's go for about $375 each. With a 25,000 mile tread life, I'd get about 3 years out of them, making them cost about $50/month... Still, bad-ass.

    Relevant Specs: (37x12.5R15)
    Tread Depth: 22/32" (.69")
    Tread Width: 10.6"
    Weight: 83 lbs

Sorry I missed this post when I just posted about Pitbulls. I have heard a few people comment on them and they have all said that the Rockers are AWESOME in rocks and mud. As for the tread life - I called Pitbull and the guy on the phone seemed very confident that they would last at least 25,000 miles (of useable life - not until they are bald)...
