    winch install question

hey guys, I have recently moved my control box under the hood, and damn I would need like 4-6" longer to be able to wire the winch in the right position, so I mounted it with the motor on the left side. This way its spooling with the cable going up instead of under the drum. I know this will work, but I'm a little worried to break something.

    Anyone else tried it?

If your cable is running off the top (like figure 2)

It will put extra stress on the cable and fairlead while under load which could lead to premature failure.

A straight shot out (figure 1) is more desirable.

When I put mine upder the hood, I just want to the Boat store and bought new cable. Was pretty cheap.

I already have like 50" of wire on the control box, but was missing like 8" to do the job correctly.

reworked on the setup last friday. Had to route the wires in diagonal in front of the rad to be able to plug all the wires on the winch in the right way. It's ugly, and I won't be able to remove the grill if I don't unplug the winch, but it works.
