So I got a recall letter on the Dodge Ram today - wtf?
OK I get the standard form recall letter, evidently they forgot to loctite the pinion nut on the rear end of my 09 Dodge.
Or as they put it "an adhesive patch may have been omitted from the threads"
it also states that :
CONSEQUENCE:
If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control or the rear of the drive shaft may separate from the axle.
Either of these conditions will cause a loss of vehicle motive power and/or a vehicle crash with little warning.
Sure, makes sense.
But then it goes on to say..
WHAT CHRYSLER IS DOING ABOUT IT:
Unfortunately, we do not currently have the required parts for a permanent repair.
You will receive another mailing when the parts become available.
So ummm "hey your rear axle could fail at any time and/or your driveshaft might fall out. We know about it but can't fix it. Just wanted to let you know."
Well fuck you very much for the info!
I guess there's a shortage of loctite or something?can I get my meds in a Princess Leia Pez dispenser please?

When was the last time you bought loctite? That shit is expensive man.
Hey Dickhead, get out of the fast lane! Unless you're passing of course.

Sounds like they would rather wait for the actual patch on the threads than just let the dealer fix the problem before your pinion nuts all fall off.
