no biggie brother, i think i found all i needed on amazon. that "frequently bought together" category sure is helpful to a retard lol

Ok so you got the thing that plugs into the canbus and the antenna adapter. You won't need the install kit for the radio

Crutchfield had a deal where the JK interface adapter was only $50 when you buy the receiver from them. Their price on the receiver was a little high, but when you consider the discount on the adapter and the free mounting shit it works out to be a decent deal.

The speakers and dynamat are cheaper on Amazon though.

holy crap! you have steering wheel controls and stuff? i will have to double check...this is getting expensive, and all because i had a sub given to me lol

Funny you say that. I went in to replace the radio and front speakers and Frankenstein was soon born.

    That sounds about right.

Funny story here..Years ago while in college I installed high end car stereo systems. I mainly did box building, fiberglass/lexan/ aluminum enclosures, and full wound wiring harness building. While I have not kept up with high end stereo equipment in at least 10-12 years, I have recently gotten the bug to re do my '07 Sahara's Infinity system. The bug caused by my amp starting to loose the right channels when it heats up. My thoughts were a double din head unit and amp/ speaker replacement and subs under the rear seat since I don't fold it down ever.

I WAS planning simple, but while talking with my wife about it one night, she said "well lets get that box of stereo equipment out of the attic." Box of stuff in the attic? WTF? I HATE the getting old shit! Not just forgetting where I put shit! Now I'm forgetting that I have shit.....

So up I go, and there it is. At least 15 years old, brand new in the box AudioControl stuff I had planned to put in my old Carerra. A Model 11 Center Channel processor/ amplifier, 2 EQL's half octave/ full octave eq's with level matching preamps, 2 each 2SX 18 db per octave active crossovers, and an Epicenter bass restoration processor. Also a crap load of Esoteric Audio gold plated fuse holders, distribution blocks, terminals, Monster patch cables and some rolls of 0 gauge and 4 gauge power and ground wire. I had totally forgotten about this stuff! Just bench tested everything, and all is GTG. So now I am looking at this audio upgrade from a completely different perspective. I'm gonna see how much of this stuff I can shoe horn in to this thing. Why? 'cause I can and its here! Is an old school audiophile quality system overkill in a Jeep with no hard top (and 90% of the time, no soft top either)? Sure, but why not? Its free and its here! And as my wife says..no one ever accused me of being "practical".

I have a couple of old Soundstream Reference amps. I think I need to fix a loose pre amp and maybe paint a few chips in the paint, but they should handle the power requirements. It s still going to add up. A new HU, front components, sound bar speakers (I need to set them up as rear fill for daily use but turn them up when the kids are back there.) Center channel speaker and Sub's. I really need to find a Marine rated shallow 10 inch sub....? The killer is going to be finding the time for the building. I'll need 2 enclosures for under the front seats for the 10 inch sub's, and a water tight enclosure under the rear seat for the components that vents to the trunk area. I am already building a cover for that, since I had my recovery gear bag stollen out of the back last month...

Bryan, A quick question. I know your components, if set up right, probably sound pretty great parked and at low speed. At highway speeds, to what extent does the fidelity get masked? Do you end up just hearing the tweeters? Or do the mid's have the volume to keep up? Thinking about this I might want to prototype a kick pod for a 6.5 or shallow 8 mid bass for the footwells. Crap! There goes my OCD kicking in again.......

Under front seat sub box will be along these lines...but a little longer towards the back...

The Hertz mids are incredible but it may be because they are bridged. I did notice the shop built a ring to mount the mids to and the ring also attaches to the pod in the dash.

Using the equipment you mentioned the jeep will sound bad ass.

I was gonna go double-DIN on the HU but couldn't find anything with the features I wanted for under a grand. So instead I was looking at the single-DIN receivers and figured I could put my CB in the open space, making room for the rearview mirror with monitor for the backup camera and some switches on the header above the mirror.

Had the free year sat radio and traffic. When that ran out I just wanted to get traffic for a year and they fucked with me for 2 months before finally getting that to work, and gave me a free year of radio for the trouble. Then when that ran out they didn't want to deal at all so I cancelled, 2 months later I start getting letters for half price on radio but the traffic would have more than doubled the price. Since I wasn't commuting as far I declined.

A few months ago I notice my traffic is working again, and has been for free ever since.

I don't really miss it. For all the choices I could never find a station that kept me interested over the long run. I have more music on my smartphone than I could listen to in a week, and people are giving me new songs all the time.

The alpine comes with lifetime traffic. As for xm I call at renewal and threaten to cancel and end up getting a deal, works every time

    Hands up, Don't shoot!

i always just let it lapse and then take em up on the half off offer they send a month later, however, with my wife's wk2 they didn't do that recently. not near the price break it's usually been. thats why i was asking, thought maybe they tightened the rules a little. since i'm looking at 3 vehicles with it i wonder if they work with me...hmmm

Give em a call, I find talking to a live person gets me more of what I want than sending emails etc.
